let out your inner redneck

D got freebies for the monster truck thing in town this evening so the boys are off doing that and I would love to say I planned some sort of crazy girls night out but I did not. I am really bad about doing that sort of thing for myself in my "old" age. D has always been good about making time for himself & going out with the boys-I do not begrudge him one bit of it so this is not sour grapes or anything I just wish I would do the same for myself and quite honestly I know he wishes I would do so as well...
so back to the monster truck I know they will have a great time but I saw some of the people buying tickets for it and lets just say people watching will be as much fun as the trucks running over things. As far as company perks this is a nice one but I am grateful D made it a boys evening, personally I am looking forward to the hockey comps, I love going to hockey games!

I hate morning

I know that should probably be the name of my blog but I'm betting it's already taken.
Normal routine I get up take a shower-can't function without one then Oscar the super pug gets let out to take care of business. Some mornings he does not like this arrangement and starts fussing at me as soon as I close the bedroom door so I let him out first for a good long morning frolic-so glad we have a fenced yard.
This morning he started snorting & scratching so I let him out only to discover that it was absolutely pouring out-oh how I love the smell of wet dog in the morning..
Got C up-he is not a morning person either so we don't mesh well in the a.m. but I got him up & started to get his breakfast he comes out & promptly knocks his juice over then sort of stares at me like what now? I know accidents happen and I know he is only 7 but this particular accident happens to him a lot so after yelling at him I got his toast and told him if he was thirsty he could drink some water over the sink. Arbitrary punishment I know but it was the best I could do at 6 a.m. with no caffeine in my system yet.
Somehow we both got ready I think he brushed his teeth but honestly I'm not sure. He could not find any of his five gazillion jackets with a hood so he grabbed a jacket & knit hat not the best rain gear. I did not manage to find a jacket at all for myself but the rain had tapered off, got him on the bus then I had to run by Wally-World to pick up something for work. As I said the rain had tapered off so I did not grab my umbrella wow bad plan on my part the heavens opened up while I was in the store for all of about 10 minute. I went out the door closest to my car with the hope of dashing to it to minimize soakedness-picked the exact moment a pick 'um up truck was barreling through the parking lot so I stopped not wanting to get run over but he stopped as well so I got drenched anyway. I had kind of dried out a little on the drive in but found that it was pouring so much the umbrella was not all that helpful and I stepped into work soggy-bleech
At this point I have the heat cranked up and have finished my coffee and luckily I brought my lunch today so I don't have to go back out into the floods till this afternoon.
Maybe I should tell D to start that Ark in the backyard

I know it's fiction but...

Sex & the City the last season alright just the last couple of episodes were so annoying!!! The Miranda/Steve & Samantha/Smith story lines were fine. Even Charlotte/Harry story was fine although I liked his character better when it was rougher around the edges. The Carrie/Aleksandr story line was goofy as hell, Yes yes I am glad she & Big finally got back together but seriously she couldn't find anything to do in Paris???
-no way did she see all of the museums, galleries, historical sites there are to see
-lots of day trips she can take from Paris to all over Europe-great rail systems
-sit at a cafe for hours please how hard is that?
-take French lessons?
-get a job maybe free lance? the character is a writer for god's sake. She worked for Vogue in NY pretty sure than have at least an office in Paris...
I think they make this hip NY chick out to be a bit xenophobic and very immature.
I do know of several women who have had the opportunity to move overseas due to their spouse's jobs and they have not wanted to do so and I must admit to not understanding their decisions. In neither situation would the move be permanent so I cannot understand why these people would not jump at the chance, oh well to each his or her own I guess

recipes

I am a recipe clipper. I blame my mother she is also a recipe clipper. I guess I could blame my hubby as well pre-marriage I lived on nicotine & caffeine, once I got married I decided to be Suzy Homemaker & have dinner prepared every night. Having a kid that is a human vacuum is no help either.. I have subscriptions to several"women's" magazines, I tend to impulse buy others at the grocery store, I am a fan of allrecipes.com and even my google page has a recipe slot to peruse as well. I have imposed a rule about buying cookbooks-I have to find at least 3 recipes I want to try in the book if I can't find 3 I put the book down. I will tear pages, print recipes, add them to my page on some sites, I have a notebook I write some down in and several file full of things I want to try. The upshot being most of my recipes are a complete disorganized mess. I have tried transferring them to computer, making a master book with laminates, note cards etc but nothing I have been able to keep up.
It does suck being this disorganized I found a couple of things I wanted to make for New Year's Eve um this past weekend plus I lost one jerk chicken recipe I really liked-I fudged it this morning and I think I have made it enough times that it'll be fine.
One of my New Year's resolutions is to try at least 1 new recipe each week, try to weed out the ones we don't like and transfer the ones we like to an index card that I can put in a file box-let's see how long this one lasts

BORING

yes D & I are complete losers this weekend! We have had a babysitter since noon yesterday but we have done NOTHING-nothing at all. We were suppose to go to a party last night but D is having joint/arthritic pain this weekend so we watched a series of really bad movies on the Sci-Fi network and ate mediocre take-out. Can someone tell me just how many B-movies has Lance Henriksen been in? They might need to rename the Sci-Fi Network the Lance Henriksen network...
