my job

makes me laugh
no not in a good way more in a sarcastic snarky
oh alright in a maniacal pull my hair out sort of way

last woman standing

well me and the dog-my parent's dog that is-Bonnie lovely but older Old English sheepdog. The first dog C interacted with lots of stories there but oh wait where was I? right I remember
Welcome baby brother into the diabetes club
OK not really baby brother I mean he is younger but the guy is what 36? and has been taller than me since he hit puberty...

season is over

after a devastating 15-12 loss our team is out of the tournament on the very first night.
It's a shame they are a team with potential but with the wacky weather this spring the only had 4 practices ah well they had fun which at the end of the day is all that really matters.
I am kind of horrible but we established that some time ago did we not? back to being horrible I am secretly happy they lost I think the tournament goes on well into June and I have school starting next Wed and would have had to rely on MIL to get him to pick him up, feed him then get him practices & or games or D would have to leave work early and well this is just easier on everyone involved.

get thee to a grocer

About a month ago I started my lists for Meatfest '08 and yet I really need to go buy some ribbies for Sunday
and burgers
and hotdogs
and stuff to make potato salad & vinegar pie
and lots of other running around needs doing as well
these wonderful organizational lists are not very helpful when you don't actually do the stuff you have written down

last day of school

I guess this makes me the mother of a (gulp)
THIRD GRADER?
I am also the weepiest mother in the history of all motherdom, he switches to the Intermediate school next year so this was our last drop off at the Primary school and of course I got misty eyed
go ahead mock me I know I'm pathetic.

why so difficult?

going back to school is a big pain in the keister not the school part the paperwork and hoops just to get into classes
you'd think they would love me "mature" student and so on but no
that being said I am all set for summer & fall classes and now know to register for spring the very second registration begins.

so have we just been lucky?

on the radio this very a.m. they were discussing little boys and ER visits and fortunately very fortunately we have not had the pleasure as of yet and the boy is almost 8.
Nope no broken limbs, large gashes, sprains etc..excuse me while I knock wood.
OK I'm back now.
wonder how long our luck will last?
I guess my brother had several ER visits and one break just a hair line fracture but it involved a cast, it never seemed like his injuries were excessive or frequent or anything.
My first ER visit was not until I was what 32?
I suppose our time will come one of these days but maybe we can just be lucky for a little longer?

quit bugging me

the school system started a new program with the lunches last year-computer based the kids has a code instead on meal tickets, I can monitor on line what is being spent on what meal, I can pay on line-for a fee mind you so I still just send a check to school with the boy-you also get updates letting you know when the amount available needs replenishing.
Handy and fabulous except he has 2 1/2 days left quit sending me emails I am not replenishing! at this point he has enough to get him through even if he gets ice cream the next couple of days.

ferocious guard dog

where? does someone have one?
we certainly don't. God love him Oscar superpug extraordinaire, very cute not much going on in the brain department. He is not a big barker more of a snorter and licker but in a crisis situation watch out...
Trying to get the boy moving and myself ready as well, Oscar started barking odd but maybe he needed out? no no thanks don't need that. back to making lunches, more barking again atypical for the dog I look over to see my cute Target $1 tote bag with a lion on it right in Oscar's line of sight
What he was protecting us from I'm not quite sure but he was not asleep on the job no not Oscar

pivotal mommy moment

so on Saturday I willingly, knowingly & purposefully put my child in harm's way then left to pick up Chinese food.
Calm down no need to call DHS or child protective services. I did not give him matches or tell him to run down the middle of Kingston Pike carrying scissors no nothing like that.
I dropped him off at a birthday at the ice rink.
I left that building with the certainty we would be spending the evening at the ER. And yet I left I left my baby because he is no longer a baby.
I spent the following 2 hours on edge with the phone just about in my hands and a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Luckily I was wrong he fell on his face before he ever got on to the ice and decided skating was not for him. C took off his skates and joined 2 other boys watching spongebob in the party room.
I could have told C no you don't know how to skate you can not go to this party but that doesn't seem fair he is friends with this kid and who knew he might have taken to the ice like a little Wayne Gretzky. He did not. Heck one of the other boys not getting on the ice was the birthday boy himself! Not quite like when C missed his own party due to illness but I would have been a bit peeved if I was this kid's mom. Makes me wonder why you would have a birthday party at a rink?

family time

busy little weekend I worked Saturday for a bit, C had a ball game plus a birthday party to attend(more on that one later) D had to help MIL with her car battery-needs charging every few months because she has 2 cars and never drives that one.
Sunday D worked a half day, C was suppose to have a ball game that was a make-up but it of course as luck would have it this season the was rained out a second time. There were also plans to go to the cinema and see Iron Man. D was ignoring my I don't really want to go you boys go on without me sort of vibe I was trying to convey so I wound up going and had a good time. It was a pretty good movie which was a good thing considering after tickets, popcorn & soda we spent a small fortune....good grief next time we smuggle in snacks(just kidding john!)
Nice steak dinner was had, luckily D managed to get it grilled before the storms returned nothing beats grilled food!!! Some day after I win the lottery and can have the house I want I am putting one of those grill things built into my kitchen-you know like they have on food tv.
Finished the evening with the Mets/Yankees game and I am glad I went to bed before it got really ugly (I am not a mets fan) last I saw the Yankees had just scored 2 unfortunately it wound up being the only 2...
