back home

officially that is-stopped at Sam & Andy's and I had a vol burger for lunch this afternoon. Made me feel really home.
C and I in fact arrived back in K-town last night only about 1 hour late which considering at one point the pilot turned an engine off, parked the plane, told us we could turn on cell phones, games etc because we were 38th in line to take off an hour not so hard to take.
We stopped at MIL's on the way home to check on family as our niece who is 6 months pregnant had been a car accident this week. Just a fender bender but she started labour, dilated etc hmmm now why does that seem so very familiar??? She only got stuck at hospital one night but is at home resting taking some medication that makes both her & the baby jumpy, normal supposedly but she does not feel very rested. A goes back to the doctor Monday and hopefully things will progress normally over the next few months.
I had planned on working this afternoon but quite frankly I am tired that is not going to happen oh well now I can dread Monday morning just a little more. The boy & I did take advantage of the tax-free weekend and did some clothes shopping and picked up some school supplies. Considering we were out mid-afternoon I was pleasantly surprised that Turkey Creek was not any crazier than it was.
The boy is clamoring for dinner except I have not been to the grocery store yet so I am not exactly sure what I can whip up might just be a call for pizza...

indulgent for brekafast but

stuffed french toast with fresh peaches & strawberries super yummo!
If it's Saturday morning you can find my parents at the same restaurant each week in fact they mentioned last night one of my mom's students tracked her down & called her there one weekend-she has a cell that is rarely on and rarely used we still are not quite sure why she has the thing but to each his or her own.
Trips to Danbury always include at least one visit to the Trellis but we managed to sneak one more trip in today as we were up early to see Dad off-he had to work so we were up at 7.30!
and to think I was so proud I had scheduled an afternoon flight so we wouldn't have to get up early on our last day...

laundry

yes even on vacation I am doing laundry..kind of sad really but hell the washer & dryer are sitting there why go home with a suitcase full of dirty clothing? In fact I packed for us based on the knowledge we would do laundry. A miracle in itself that I actually under packed for a change? did the world stop revolving on it's axis or something? no? are you sure?
It is somewhat of a family joke at this point as my SIL & I both wind up doing laundry when visiting the house, my father jokes around that we bring dirty laundry with us. And not that I would admit it to him but this time around I did in fact bring a shirt I wanted to wear that I didn't get a chance to wash at home

wild kingdom on the back porch

my hometown has grown by leaps and bounds for over a decade now with buildings and homes popping up all over the place. This means displaced wildlife, now growing up our neighborhood always had deer, raccoons, skunk but the wild turkeys moved in at some point over 10 years ago. There is a good sized gaggle? flock? pride? whatever it is you call a family of turkeys about 10-15 rather large sized birds live in the woods behind my folks house. Generally speaking you see them wandering around in the mornings & early afternoons.
My parents live in a split level 2 story house and off the kitchen is a screened in deck-they live out there during the spring & summer and some of the autumn before it gets too cold. There is a small portion of deck as you walk up the back stairs that is open they have some flowers and a table in that section but it is not really used. Imagine my surprise when C & I went out to eat breakfast this morning to find a turkey staring in at us from the open section of deck. We startled him as much as he startled us, and that is assuming him I did not check or anything, he jumped up on the railing a flew back down to the yard to his waiting friends.

hold your kids a little closer

and hug them a little tighter tonight.
I am out of town and logged on to see what was going on in sleepy 'ol Knoxville and I am just speechless. This sort of thing doesn't happen there and certainly not in a church my thoughts and prayers are for all of those in that church this afternoon.
